i thought i read somewhere that the jews will be hated by all people/nations for his name sake.
what is the history behind hating the jews? disobedience? un-belief?

it is not so much the jews who will be hated for his name's sake but those who follow god.
jesus says in john 15:19, "if you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. as it is, you do not belong to the world, but i have chosen you out of the world. that is why the world hates you....
v20...if they persecuted me, they will persecute you also....they will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me.
the history of hating the jews has stemmed from their religious beliefs which drive their culture and habits. man likes assimilation not distinctions. the jews claimed to follow the one true god and the rest of the world did not like it. no-one likes to be told they are wrong.
